At Living Well Balanced located in Manhattan NYC, our physical therapists take a unique approach to treatment. While many other clinics employ passive modalities, we make active and cutting edge techniques a priority, focusing on "why" you are in pain in addition to "what" hurts you. You will receive a comprehensive movement assessment to assess how you move in your daily life. We offer a holistic approach incorporating cupping, taping, GRASTON soft tissue mobilization, TPI golf screening, balance training and more. We strive to meet all your wellness goals.
20-30 years ago, physical therapy was an almost entirely different profession. The emphasis was on passive modalities like electrical stimulation and ultrasound and simply stretching what is tight and strengthening what is weak. The treatment philosophy focused only on the specific area in pain rather than focusing on the body as a whole. Clinics were seeing multiple patients per hour and employed under qualified "aides", to perform general therapeutic exercises with the patient. Unfortunately, most physical therapy clinics today still employ this approach!
Here at Living Well Balanced we have redefined physical therapy. You will be treated one on one with a physical therapist the ENTIRE session performing a combination of hands-on therapy and individualized corrective exercises specifically addressing your postural and movement impairments. We look at the entire body as a whole unit that functions in sync. Our manual therapy or hands-on approach to treatment is not simply massage but rather specific treatment techniques such as myofascial trigger point release, active release, mobilization with movement and muscle energies to assist in accomplishing your goals.
At Living Well Balanced our aim is to provide comprehensive care to our patients to relieve their pain and help them enjoy a healthy lifestyle with better quality care. Get back to pain free function with the dedicated attention of our physical therapy doctor. Here are some of the benefits physical therapy at Living Well Balanced can provide you:
Dr. David Levkovich, DPT leads our physical therapy team. He takes a holistic approach to treatment, addressing the body as a whole unit to search for the cause of dysfunction rather than the symptom. His experience and expertise partnered with the latest equipment helps patients get the best treatment possible.
At Living Well Balanced, you don't need to choose! Chiropractic treatment and physical therapy work great together to relieve pain and improve movement. For example, if you’ve developed chronic pain in your lower back due to sitting for long hours at your desk job, a chiropractor can adjust part of your spine to correct any misalignment while a physical therapist can help you strengthen your muscles and correct your posture so that the pain never comes back.
There are many advantages of having your chiropractor and physical therapist under the same roof:
At Living Well Balanced, our chiropractors and physical therapists work together to make sure you get the best possible treatment. All patient files are shared and each individual case is discussed in detail to help provide customized care to each patient. All our chiropractors and practitioners work in sync with each other incorporating the latest techniques to ensure faster and better healing.
You may be suffering from shoulder pain that is keeping you from lifting things or raising your arm, or knee pain that is hindering your morning run, or lower back pain that is making it hard to stand or sit for long. Together, chiropractic treatment and physical therapy can help take all that pain away and enable you to return to your normal routine stronger and healthier.
Here at Living Well Balanced all services work in conjunction with each other. We are constantly communicating about every patient to ensure we meet their wellness and health goals. Your physical therapist will be speaking with the massage therapist on an ongoing basis to discuss all pertinent areas to focus on during the treatment. In addition, your physical therapist will consult with your personal trainer to ensure that everyone is on the same page to address your health needs. Massage therapy and personal training are recommended additions to your physical therapy treatment in order to focus more intensely on the soft tissue and strengthening/cardio components in an optimal manner.
Your first visit will be our chance to sit down with each other and discuss your specific goals. Once we understand how we can help you, we then proceed to perform a comprehensive SFMA movement assessment. We investigate what imbalances your body presents with and which compensations in your movement pattern could be causing your pain. We then perform range of motion and muscle strength testing to further delve into your specific imbalances and areas of weakness. After all testing is performed, we come up with a game plan on how to attack the imbalances. You will be given therapeutic exercises for your specific problem with printouts to perform at home as we start our journey together.
We want getting the help you need to be easy and convenient, that’s why the consultation is always free. So, no more excuses! Meet with one of our doctors today by calling us at 212-579-2858 schedule your free consultation!
